Dolly Out

The camera retreats; reveal, isolation or ending.

Dolly Out example: Red Corridor

What it is

A dolly out (pull-back) moves the camera away from the subject. It reveals context the audience did not see, or leaves a character alone in growing space.

When to use it

Ending a scene on a slow pull-back is a classic way to let emotion settle.

How to prompt it

Some models confuse dolly out with zoom out; add "the camera physically moves backward".

Dolly-out, a model in an oversized black coat walking toward camera down a long red corridor, the camera physically moves backward, keeping her centered.
