Drone Shot

Aerial movement: flyovers, reveals, pull-backs.

Drone Shot example: Rooftop Dawn

What it is

Drone shots move freely through the air: orbiting summits, flying over terraces, pulling back from a rooftop. They have replaced most helicopter shots in commercials and travel films.

When to use it

The best ones still have a subject and a direction; aimless aerials read as stock footage.

How to prompt it

Name the move ("drone orbit", "drone pull-back", "drone push-in") and the subject it is anchored on.

Drone orbit around a climber raising an ice axe on a snowy summit above a sea of clouds, sun low on the horizon.
