Tracking Shot

The camera travels alongside a moving subject.

Tracking Shot example: Inside the Barrel

What it is

A tracking shot follows a subject laterally, from behind or ahead, keeping pace with them. It turns movement into rhythm - runners, riders, kids on bikes.

When to use it

Long tracking shots are a signature of directors who want immersion without cuts.

How to prompt it

Describe the direction: "tracking shot moving alongside from the left". Without direction, models often produce a static frame with a moving subject.

Tracking shot moving alongside, four kids riding bikes down a suburban street at sunset, long shadows, low angle, 35mm.
