Steadicam Shot

Floating, stabilised movement that follows or leads a character.

Steadicam Shot example: Spice Market

What it is

A Steadicam shot is handheld in the sense that the operator walks with the camera, but a stabiliser removes shake. The result floats - corridors, crowds, long continuous takes.

When to use it

Horror uses it for the feeling of an unseen presence gliding behind the characters.

How to prompt it

Use "smooth steadicam following behind" or "gliding steadicam". It is the most reliable way to get a long forward move from video models.

Smooth steadicam following, a long symmetrical hotel hallway with patterned carpet and dim wall sconces, a small child on a tricycle in the distance.
